Tip: Happy New Year to all of you! This starts the Bridal
Show kickoff!! For those of you that have not attended a Bridal
Show before, you will be in for a surprise--sometimes good and
sometimes not so good.
The best Bridal Shows are the ones with the largest amount of
vendors for you to view. They are not all like that, so try to
find out how long they have been around before attending. Usually
the shows have places where you can pick up discount coupons for
attendance. Ask some of these places if they can give you a comparison.
Some
have only about 70 vendors, others can have as many as 300. You
will pay an admission fee. Your coupon will help with this. After
you go in, you will be asked to fill out a form for a drawing,
then they will give you a show booklet. Your name will be added
to a list of every bride there and it is given to each vendor
that has paid for booth space. Soon after the show (approximately
2 weeks), you will start getting mail and phone calls from these
vendors.
When attending these shows, you should wear comfortable shoes
and clothes. Bring address stickers with you to save from writing
your name many times to obtain information from specific vendors.
Collect information from all vendors--you may be surprised what
some places sell in addition to what you see there. Ask for show
specials.
The fashion shows can be done very well and can provide you with
the right source for you to buy your dress and tuxedos. Local
vendors usually will provide dresses and tuxedos for you to see
so you know exactly where to get them.
Some
of the caterers and cake places will provide free taste samples,
so be hungry.
After the show, go through all your materials and organize them
by subject. (This is where The Wedding Workbook becomes
very handy--use those pockets!).
Make appointments with each vendor you are interested in, covering
one subject at a time. Remember to interview 3 of each vendor.
Be prepared to enjoy your day and make it worth your while.
