Tip: How to choose your wedding party can be very exciting and maybe a bit confusing. Am I selecting the right person? Will they be by my side? Or disappoint me? Hopefully we can think this thru and make the best choice.
Your attendants can be a great help in preparing for your wedding and especially a great support group on the wedding day itself.
Inviting someone to be in your wedding party is an honor. Therefore, what's most relevant is that the people you choose are important to both of you.
Here are a few guidelines to consider when choosing the members of your wedding party:
Decide how many attendants you want. The range is anywhere from one to twelve with most weddings having six or fewer. The number of ushers or groomsmen is usually determined by the number of guests. One usher can comfortably seat about 50 guests. It's not necessary to have the same number of groomsmen and bridesmaids although it is a common practice.
Verity their availabilities. As soon as you start planning, preferably after you set the date and decide on the number of guests, make sure the numbers of your wedding party are able to attend
Consider their financial responsibilities. Attendants usually purchase their own attire and pay for their own transportation and lodging, plus a wedding gift.
Consider the abilities of the flower girl or ring or train bearer. Children who are too young have been known to create challenges during the ceremony. They can be absolutely adorable, but beware of the other side of the coin.
Things to ponder for now. Next month we will discuss more about selecting the attendants themselves.
And most of all, have fun and stay organized!
