Tip: Mailing your Invitations
Invitations
should be mailed 4 to 10 weeks before your wedding date. Ten weeks
is okay if your wedding date falls on a holiday weekend or during
the December holiday season. (That is where your Save-the-Date
cards came in handy, too, as they have already marked it on their
calendars).
Eight weeks is the preference for the balance of your guest list,
but some feel that only out of towners should be mailed out then.
If you follow that system, then six weeks is good for local guests.
Sometimes it is necessary to have an 'A' list and 'B' list. After
all of the 'A' list is mailed out, you wait for enough negatives
to come back, then you can still mail some out 4 to 5 weeks before
your wedding date. This keeps your guest count in better control
for your budget.
Don't forget to have your invitation package weighed at the Post
Office so you have the correct postage amount put on. On your
response envelopes, you should stamp them with the appropriate
postage (34 cents for now).
Keeping calm and organized can make this part easier.
