Tip: Roles of the Bridal Party
It is very important to select the correct people to be in your
wedding party. It is always an honor to be a member of the Wedding
Party, but they are also there to help you both before and during
the big event. Their involvement from the shower through the reception
can help make your wedding stress-free, smooth-running and alot
of fun for all of you. Each month we will lay out for your attendants
their duties, etc.
The Maid (single) or Matron (married) of Honor:

Helps bride select attire

Helps bride address invitations

Plans bridal shower for bride or a joint party for
the couple (this can be done with the help of the best man)

At the shower, she can help open and/or record gifts
and keep track of them for Thank You Notes.

Arrives at the dressing site 2 hours before ceremony
to assist bride in dressing

Arrives dressed at ceremony site 1 hour before the
wedding for photographs
-
Arranges the bride's veil and train before the processional
and the recessional

Follows bridesmaids and precedes ring bearer or
flower girl in the processional
-
Stands to the left of Bride and slightly behind
her during the ceremony, facing the officiant (the opposite occurs
in a Jewish Ceremony)

Holds brides bouquet and groom's ring, if no ring
bearer during the ceremony.

Is escorted out by Best Man to his right immediately
following the Flower Girl/Ring Bearer or Bride/Groom during the
recessional.

Is a legal witness and witnesses the signing of
the marriage certificate

Stands to the left of groom in the receiving line

Sits to the left of the groom at the head table

Keeps the bride on schedule

Makes a toast at the reception

Dances with the Best Man during the bridal party
dance

Helps bride change into her going away clothes,
if necessary

She pays for her wedding day attire
-
She is also available for fittings and alterations
and makes sure the bridesmaids are, too.

She also pays for her own travel expenses, if necessary
