Tip: Where will your wedding be? That is a great question.
A Hall, A Hotel, The Beach, A Church, A Synagogue, A Park...What
about out of town altogether?
Destinations
Weddings are a growing trend. Often a combination of ceremony, reception,
vacation and honeymoon, destination weddings are gaining in popularity
as more couples decide they'd rather spend the time and money going
to an exotic location than hosting a party closer to home.
Some say you can save money by doing things this way. The bottom
line will depend on the number of guests and the grandness of the
reception. Geography is also a factor since most couples don't live
in their hometown anymore. Someone's going to have to travel, so
why not all go to a great destination. Our society has become more
mobile and busy. The idea of a wedding doubling as a vacation for
guests and a honeymoon appeals to most couples. Instead of spending
the week before the wedding arranging things at home, they can spend
it on a beach. Hawaii and Jamaica are the most popular destination
sites followed by Florida, the Bahamas and Las Vegas. Weddings at
Sea aboard a Cruise Ship are also popular.
For
many couples, bringing guests along is a priority. It's more a way
to escape from the stress of wedding planning--the average destination
wedding includes approximately 46 guests. Guests typically pay their
own transportation and lodging costs.
If a couple decides to marry at a resort, they're likely to find
a wedding coordinator to take care of every whim.
To help entice your guests, send out save-the-date cards with booklets
of area activities, hotel information, a brief description about
the location and why you chose it as well as a possible agenda so
guests know what day to arrive and leave on. This way no one will
miss out on any of the fun. It should be a grand time had by all.
