Tip: A wedding at home can be very personal and expressive of an individual couple. It can, however be more complicated (and more expensive) than renting a hall, hotel or reception center. Besides the details, wear and tear on the property can be considerable. Questions to ask yourself for events in your home: What are the laws concerning tents, noise and parking? Is there adequate insurance coverage if someone is injured? Is it possible to take out an insurance rider to cover liability? What about guests with special needs? (i.e.: handicapped guests) For parking, can you provide valet or shuttle service? Do your electrical outlets handle extra wattage for your band or DJ, caterer, videographer, etc.? Don't forget to turn off sprinklers the day of the wedding. Get all details for your at home wedding and compare it to other venues so there are no surprises. Enjoy!
