The Bridal Party A to Z

Tip: The Role of the Mother of the Bride plays a big step in the Bridal Party--there is lots of information on this. Some things may surprise you. Anyway, there are always ways to make this your "own" way.

  • Helps prepare guest list for the bride and her family
  • Helps plan the wedding ceremony and reception
  • Is available for all pre-wedding parties
  • Helps bride select her bridal gown
  • Helps bride keep track of gifts received
  • Selects her own attire according to the formality and color of the wedding
  • Makes accommodations for bride's out of town guests
  • Arrives dressed at ceremony site 1 hour before the wedding for photographs
  • Is escorted down the aisle by best man or head usher, to his right, before the processional begins
  • Is the last person to be seated right before the processional begins
  • Sits in the left front pew to the left of bride's father during the ceremony
  • Stands up to signal the start of the processional
  • Is escorted out by bride's father to his right, immediately following the last bridesmaid and usher during recessional
  • Can witness the signing of the marriage certificate
  • Stands at the head of the receiving line
  • Sits to the right of bride's father at parents' table during reception
  • Dances with the groom after the first dance
  • Acts as hostess at the reception
  • Goes around to greet each guest if there is no receiving line
  • She is available for alterations and fittings for her dress, if necessary
  • Pays her own transportation to wedding if necessary

She is the one that ties it all together so no detail is forgotten. She is the most important person to the bride and should be heard and understood so all things are out in the open and discussed

As always, have fun and Stay Organized!

Fondly,
Marlene
